Yasawa Resorts

The 20 or so islands that comprise the Yasawa group in Fiji extend northward in a distinct chain. Vacation resorts are found on many of these islands and each destination can advise on exactly how to get there. International travellers arrive into Fiji usually through the main Nadi international airport on the mainland. From there one can reach the Yasawas either by ferry, seaplane or helicopter. One island - Yasawa - can be reached by light aircraft direct from Nadi Airport. It is the only island in the chain that has an airstrip.

Ferry: The Yasawa Flyer, a large yellow catamaran that goes up to the Yasawas and back on a daily schedule out of Port Denarau, Denarau Island. Denarau is about 15-20 minutes by road from Nadi Airport. The ferry calls in at most of the resorts along its journey through the Yasawas; the resorts send out small tenders for their arriving and departing guests. A new service (from 31st August 2009) is the MV Lycianda, operated by Blue Lagoon Cruises out of Lautoka (about 30 minutes north of Nadi). The Lycianda departs Mondays and Thursdays each week, returning on Wednesdays and Saturdays, i.e. a 2 day trip. This means it is not only a convenient ferry service for tourists, islanders and supplies to the various resorts and villages, but is also an ideal 2-day budget cruise option.

Helicopter and Seaplane: Turtle Airways operate seaplane transfers out of Nadi, landing in the lagoon in front of your resort destination. Many of the resorts have helicopter landing sites if you wish to fly out by helicopter from Nadi via Island Hoppers.

Whichever way you decide to travel to the Yasawas, you will enjoy stunning views of the islands, ocean, lagoons and white sand beaches.
